As one of the leading European logistics service providers with almost 400 locations worldwide, DACHSER not only focuses on “Intelligent Logistics”, but also on “Efficient Compliance”. DACHSER has opted for the DHC VISION software for its internal control system (ICS).
As a logistics service provider with global operations, DACHSER is subject to strict laws and comprehensive regulations, the requirements of which are aimed at averting risks and the associated damage to companies and guaranteeing the effectiveness, efficiency and regularity of commercial action and operational activities. Compliance management, risk management, information security and data protection as well as the associated control and monitoring systems, such as an ICS, are therefore very important.
Internal control system in accounting
The internal control system is reviewed for adequacy and effectiveness as part of the audit of the annual financial statements. In addition to the auditing standards of the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany (IDW) and the requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), DACHSER is also subject to a large number of other country-specific standards – which increases the complexity and importance.
The documentation, design and effectiveness of preventive, process-dependent measures as well as process-independent, retrospective controls must be transparently demonstrated. The first point of documentation in particular will receive increasing attention in the future, for example from the IDW standards.
So far, processes, risks and controls or proofs of control have been supported via a variety of different analogue and digital procedures. The integrated system is designed to ensure compliance with legal documentation requirements, while at the same time acting as a central management tool for the global ICS and raising awareness of controls within the company.
DHC VISION increases process reliability and compliance
Today’s solution maps the entire internal control process – from process documentation to the recording and assessment of risks, the definition and implementation of associated controls and the testing of controls. With the introduction of DHC VISION, DACHSER is in a position to document risks, but also controls, simply and transparently and to manage them at operational level throughout the Group.
The decision to opt for DHC VISION ICS was preceded by a comprehensive selection process. The decisive factors for DHC VISION were the holistic approach and the fully integrated range of applications. The future viability and the extensive best practice in combination with the appealing design were ultimately convincing.
Company-wide rollout
The rollout in Germany is followed by the global rollout. The digitization of documentation and processes with DHC VISION is also progressing horizontally. For example, attention will be paid to the meaningful integration of cross-company business processes and the realization of other topics related to ICS.
“With sales of around 280 billion euros, the German logistics sector is a dynamic growth market. As a RegTech solution provider, we support our customers in dealing with the ever new and changing legal framework conditions with maximum supply security at reasonable expense,” says Dr. Wolfgang Kraemer, Managing Director of DHC Business Solutions. “Digital ICS processes are an ideal application area for greater process efficiency in compliance management. There are almost no limits to the imagination for further process automation, especially through the use of blockchain and AI technologies,” adds Kraemer. “We are delighted to be able to shape this path together with DACHSER.”
